Barely Legal (2003)

David Mickey Evans, the director of Radio Flyer and The Sandlot turns in a teen sex comedy that reeks of ’90s made-for-cable or direct-to-video. Three high school dudes decide they can make a lot of money by filming a porno without their school or their parents finding out, and without getting murdered by a rival team of professional pornographers. Whackiness ensues. What Barely Legal has going for it: the main dude, Erik von Detten, is a bit of a hottie; and his love interest is played by the always effortlessly charming Amy Smart. Sarah Jane Potts makes the most of her thankless wannabe-porno actress role. That’s about it for the positive column. The movie is otherwise schmaltzy, insincere, and predictable.

With Tom Arnold, Sam Levine, and Horatio Sanz.
