Scarlett Johansson and Jillian Bell lead an all-gal cast in this dark comedy about college friends who reunite for a wild party night that spirals out of control when they accidentally kill a male stripper. It was a little challenging to go along with the movie’s irreverent tone after the stripper dies, but once the ladies begin trying — and failing — to dispose of the corpse, the movie corrects course and gets funnier as it goes.
ScarJo earns her own situational laughs by playing it straight, while Bell and co-star Kate McKinnon embrace their goofy sides. Zoe Kravitz and Ilana Glazer round out the party as one-time lovers who reignite the spark over the course of their misadventures. Paul W. Downs is charming and funny as Johansson’s fiance, but more should have been made of Demi Moore’s cameo as a lustful next-door neighbor.
