John Stockwell (Christine) stars as a teenage motor head who steals a bizarre piece of alien technology from a local junk yard to try and pass off as his high school science project. Trouble is, the device keeps depleting its surrounding of any electrical charge. And the more energy it consumes, the more it begins tampering with the space-time continuum. Before long, Stockwell and his friends (including Fisher Stevens) are battling samurai warriors, the Viet Cong, post-apocalyptic mutants, and even a Tyrannosaurus Rex as their own school becomes a historical vortex. It’s best to leave your critical thinking at the door and just run with this one. Dennis Hopper makes it easier to do, playing a cool hippie teacher the kids come to for help. The old-school special effects are pretty groovy for a lower-budget 80s flick. With Richard Masur, Danielle von Zerneck, and Raphael Sbarge.
