This decent little horror anthology produced by Bryan Singer serves up four tales of Halloween fright. Each of the stories feels like a small-town myth, the kind that haunts a community for generations. I particularly liked the one about a school bus driver who murders a bus load of ‘special needs’ kids. Other plot lines involve a high school principal who has it out for one of his students and an old codger who does battle with a relentless trick-or-treater who may not be human… Writer Michael Dougherty, who also makes his directorial debut, is very good at weaving in and out of storylines, building suspense, and delivering twists. The cast includes Anna Paquin (True Blood), Dylan Baker, Brian Cox, and Tamoh Penikett (Battlestar Galactica).
