Jocks (1986)

[3]

A team of L.A. college tennis players try to pull their shit together to win a championship before the dean pulls the plug on their program. I’m all for a good teen sex comedy, but Jocks is neither funny nor sexy enough to satisfy on either level. Instead, you get scenarios out of ’70s sitcoms and one-liners that feel like they were written by people decades older than the film’s target audience. Somehow, Christopher Lee was talked into making a cameo appearance as the school’s president. Future Law & Order star Mariska Hargitay plays one of the boys’ romantic interests, while future hit director Tom Shadyac (The Nutty Professor, Bruce Almighty) appears as one of the team’s rival players. Racial and gay stereotypes are played for multiple, on-going laughs, which leave a bad taste to an already sub-mediocre endeavor.
